In the land of golden dreams and dust,
Where hope took root in earth's crust,
Pioneers etched their fate,
Without names, in history's slate.
From quartz veins, Fortune sprang,
Silent witnesses to the ring and clang,
Of picks and shovels, dreams unbound,
In fields where nuggets crowned.
Yet, like the road's end, some dreams fell,
Kangaroo's fate, a silent knell,
Birds feast, indifferent sky,
As echoes of the past drift by.
